Corvettes produced of any generation, collector's edition with hatchback
available at $22,537 Drivetrain choices were severely limited to only the 350
with 200 hp and a new 4 speed automatic. This was the first year of the
Cross-fire injection throttle body injection system, which was a hybrid between
a carburetor and fuel injection. Also, a new gas tank mounted electric fuel pump
was included. The fiberglass leaf spring was also introduced this year, to save
weight. To commemorate the last of the C3 Corvettes, a Collectors Edition was
released this year, with a frameless hatchback supported by gas struts. A two
tone silver and beige paint job and clear laquer with fading shadows also
enhanced this distinct year model.
